The holiday commercials that JCPenney is running use a John Lennon song called Real Love (iTunes) and a Weepies song called All that I Want (iTunes).

The John Lennon Commercial is below. From the JCPenney site:

Real Love is an impromptu, home-recorded track by John Lennon. This is only the second time Yoko Ono has allowed one of his tracks to be licensed. The first time was in 1992.

Too easy this time - I love Aimee Mann (and her awesome husband Michael Penn). Anyway, this week’s episode began with One from the Magnolia soundtrack.

And it closed with “All of Me” from the new Radiohead CD - In Rainbows. Cool - this episode featured two of my favorite artists. I wish this was my job - choosing music for shows.

Go buy your wife a diamond. The new Diamonds are forever commercial is using a song called Coffee Shop by from Landon Pigg. Apparently the song is not available commercially - I’ll be on the look out for it, and will post if I find it.

I love the new Target commercials with the lyrics - Holiday’s are times of magic, we’re counting down, we’re counting down. Well after doing a little of searching I found that the song is a re-worked song from Jim Noir - My Patch (iTunes) - kind of quirky, definitely memorable pop sound. Love it. Anyway, his video for the song My Patch is awesome.

Great song at the end of a not so great episode. I don’t know how I can continue to watch this crap. Anyway, kudos for using an Earlimart song at the end. If you like Elliott Smith, you’ll like Earlimart. The song is called The Little Things (iTunes).

I’ve gotten a couple of questions about the Kay Jewelers commercial using a cover of the Cat Steven’s song “How Can I Tell You” (iTunes) - It sounds like Cat Power. She has a cover album, but that song isn’t on it. As far as I can tell, that song isn’t available anywhere.
